HISTORY
Kaipan was founded in 1991 as a fully Czech-owned company. The goal of its founder was to enlarge the Czech market offer with an exclusively sports convertible (roadster).
Its design was taken from Lotus Seven and its copies. Even though the original idea was rather to import Lotus Seven copies from abroad, it gradually changed to developing and manufacturing new variants of the original designs.
The first prototype was introduced in the fall of 1992; however, the development and tests took several more years. The development was finished in 1997 and "Kaipan 47" was approved for production and road traffic.
In 2003 the company moved to new premises in old factory in Smržovka.

In 2001 and 2002 a new type with engine Audi 1.8 Turbo 20v was developed and tested. This vehicle named Kaipan 57 was presently replaced by the model Kaipan 47 which is not produced for the Czech market.
In 2003 18 cars have been produced and sold. In 2004 16 cars have been produced and sold. In 2003 14 cars Kaipan 57 have been produced and sold.
In July 2006 new model Kaipan 14 was approved for road traffic. Kaipan 14 was after two years of secret development introduced in public on 9.8.2006.
