Take one “as good as new” Škoda Favorit, take all the insides out,strip the body, spice it up with exciting Kaipan components and wrap it up into a new Kaipan 14 chassis. Sprinkle it with some lights, little bit of chrome and fancy ornaments on top of that, pour some petrol in, start the engine and slowly warm it up (bring it up slowly up to the speed).
Than you can take it out for a spin and enjoy the wind in your hair.
That’s how you could write an instruction manual for new Kaipan 14. This new and attractive contribution of small Czech car maker from Smržovka follows the tradition of first-republic car makers of sports roadsters.
Construction of this car is in fact reconstruction. All essential components are taken from original design except for the bodywork. The following components are used from Škoda Favorit: engine, gear-box, axles, brakes, steering, exhaust pipe, fuel tank, wiring system and other parts. These parts are built into the new chassis with reinforced frame with newly designed lights, seats, rear-mirrors and other bits and pieces.
So the five-seater small family car is transformed into a new attractive two-seater roadster. The equipment of this car is very Spartan (the car is missing some essential components such as doors and roof). It doesn’t have doors not even the roof. Its overall weight was reduced by hundreds of kilos which contributed to improvement of acceleration, road grip and overall driving experience. Roadster is simply roadster.
Kaipan 14 Kit
Kaipan 14 is supplied as a finished transformed vehicle or on a DIY (do it yourself) basis. If this is the case the customer is provided with set of components J or K and then he can, under the supervision or help of the Kaipan Company, rebuild his own car (appropriately taxed) using step by step instruction manual and components provided.
The engine, axels and other essential parts are removed from the original car. These are then fitted into the new bodywork. When finished the car is taken to the emission control (green mark - MOT). The vehicle is then inspected by Kaipan Company and if all the requirements and checks are satisfied, the data in registration book can be changed. The following step is to register the change into the stored documentation at the Municipal Council and new Certificate of Registration (formerly Small Registration Book) is issued and the transformation form Favorit to Kaipan 14 is complete. The name of the vehicle is then KAIPAN 14.
In order to receive final approval is it vital to follow all procedures and adjustments as per enclosed Instruction Manual. The Kit also contains most of the components necessary for completion of this transformation.
